Science experiments for 5th graders are supposed to courage the kids in positive way. Learning chemistry and physics plus math will be the right thing to do in order to know that exacta can definitely be applied on daily life. In this article we will show you one kind of science experiment for elementary school with medium difficulty level. This experiment is supposed for 4th grader and up.


By using minimal cost your kids can discover new things around them. But still, they need parental guidance and advisory because this experiment will include electricity thing and harmful chemical could happen during the experiment.

Soap science


This project requires material which is easy to find. And you need like 3 up to 4 weeks. The overall goal of this project is identifying the active ingredients from the soap you use every day. Besides, there are some properties in soap that kids will know due to this experiment.


Material needed


1. Computer with full internet access
2. Camera
3. Craft supplies such as pens, wood, poster board, glue, and paper
4. 4 bars or more soaps from different brands
5. Water in bowl
6. Paper towels
7. Microwave
The materials are easy to find and parents should monitor the kids during this experiment, especially when it comes to use microwave on the science experiments for 5th graders.

Procedure of experiment

1. Take picture of each bar after it is removed from the package.

2. Weight each soap bar and write the listed ingredients which showed on package.

3. Put water on the two bowls.

4. Put all bars of soap in a bowl. You will see one or two of the sink down and the rest are floating.

5. Mix black pepper on the other bowl with water and sink your finger in it. Do you see any changes?

6. Stick your finger with soap and sink them on the pepper water. Then see what happens after that. Just make sure to write down anything happens.

7. Break up each bar of soap and you will see the difference in it. Again, record what you see and the texture.

8. Put each type of soap and wrap them with paper towel. Heat the microwave in two minutes with high level and bring-in each bar of soap to the microwave.

9. See what happens and write down. You can also search it through the internet if you need more references for science experiments for 5th graders.
